Mission
We've come a long way since 2009, when the Jo-Carroll Energy Board of Directors studied economic development structures, funding and progress in Jo Daviess, Carroll, and Whiteside counties in Northwest Illinois in an attempt to determine a best and consistent approach for improving the quality of life for its members. The Board decided it was necessary that a regional development entity be formed, concentrating on growing the economy and public/private partnerships. Tri-County Economic Development Alliance (TCEDA) was born.
Over recent years TCEDA has broadened its outreach, with new partners and sponsors, and increased membership in the private and public sectors. We are proud to have been recognized by our colleagues and peers with a Nonprofit of the Year award and a regional, state-awarded Certificate of Appreciation for our support and contribution to workforce development.
In our efforts to continuously improve, we've changed our organization's name to NW Illinois Economic Development to more accurately reflect our location in the country and to the world. Our message is clear; we are a welcoming region with clearly defined benefits to grow business. We have Room to Grow.
Mission Statement
NW Illinois Economic Development promotes economic development by fostering business growth. We assist expanding and relocating businesses in determining their needs for growth with cooperation of our government and business partners.
We encourage entrepreneurs by assisting with access to resources to begin and grow their businesses.
We employ all available resources to create a welcoming business environment, aligning the skills of our workforce with the needs of businesses, and building political and economic capital.
